Federal College Work-Study is a type of financial aid that is (即. 它提供了 earnings for employment on-campus or at an off-campus agency (limited availability).

In order to be paid through Work-Study funds, a student must have a FAFSA on file with the 金融援助 Office and must have 需要 (the difference between your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and the 出勤费用).

Work-Study is not included in your award until you apply for and obtain a position funded through Work-Study funds. Because funding and jobs are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, check the job postings often on the Handshake Job Board. 应用 as early as you can after the opening date. See instructions below.

The number of hours per week for which a student can be authorized to work depends on your unmet 需要 as determined by 金融援助. Many students do not realize they qualify for Work-Study. Do not rule it out before asking.

Employment Requirements & 规定

• Must be approved by the Division Chairperson/Supervisor, appropriate Department Administrator, and Director of 金融援助.

• Current pay rate is California minimum wage.

• 小时: 可能工作 a maximum of 20 hours/week during fall and spring semesters and a maximum of 40 hours/week during breaks but may never earn more than the total Work-Study award amount.

• Summer 联邦半工半读的 may be approved if funds are available. FWS学生必须 be enrolled in at least 3 units during the summer and have approval from the 金融援助 Director.

• To maintain financial aid eligibility: Must continue active participation in a minimum of 6 units throughout the Fall and/or Spring semester(s) and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. This includes students who are over 最大的时间, must have an approved 最大的时间 Appeal on file with the 金融援助 Office in order to work.

Hiring Process for Student Assistants

Federal law requires the college, as employer, to verify both the identity and employment eligibility of all employees.

After being offered a job, the student:

• 会收到 FWS Award Eligibility Form from the 职业中心, which includes FWS regulations and a signature request using Adobe的迹象.
